Visakhapatnam: Environmental activists feel that there is long way to go for completely transforming the Ganesha festival into an eco-friendly one as nearly 1,100 pandals were set up with Plaster of Paris (PoP) Ganeshas across the city.

Despite the massive distribution of clay Ganeshas by Pollution Control Board, Police Department, Builders and NGOs besides campaigning for celebrating eco-friendly Ganesha festival, some organisations and groups went for PoP Ganeshas which was disappointing, pointed out green activists.According to officials, this year stringent rules were put in place to get permission for setting up pandals.
