According to Cinematograph Act, 1952, the film which receives ‘A’ certificate is considered suitable for exhibition restricted to adults only. As per the norms, the theatre managements are supposed to disallow the audience who falls below 18 years of age.

It was observed by this correspondent in several theatres where the theatre authorities are acting against the rules and letting in the children and school students to watch the movie.

Speaking to The Hans India, Vizag Film Society Honorary Secretary Narava Prakasha Rao said, "On the same issue, we submitted a memorandum to the then Joint Collector J Nivas sometime ago and he dealt the matter with theatre managements." Since then, INOX screens have been not permitting children and young students for ‘A’ certificate films, he observed.

Narava Prakasha Rao, who is member of CBFC, Hyderabad Region Advisory Panel, said he would request Joint Collector Srujana to organise awareness programmes on the CBFC rules for theatre managements.

"Our theatre management is not particular about film certification rule and putting into practice. So, we the staff, too, aren't bothered about audience age while giving tickets and while they enter theatre," said a staff member of theatre on condition of anonymity.

Moreover, some couples bring their children to adult movies and the staff would be in no position to stop them, he noted. However, it is learnt that the normal theatres apparently have not fallen in line in regard to this issue.
