Rich tributes were paid to former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy on his 8th death anniversary across the district on Saturday. YSR Congress party functionaries and leaders have conducted Annadanam and Vastradanams in their respective constituencies in the memory of departed leader. On the occasion, they recalled their association with the YSR and welfare schemes introduced during his regime.

Meanwhile widow of YSR, Vijayamma and his son YS Jaganmohan Reddy and daughter Sharmila paid rich tributes at tomb of Rajasekhar Reddy, Idupulapaya. Later they conducted a meeting with well-wishers and supporters of YSR family over implementation of Navaratnalu announced by Jaganmohan Reddy at party plenary in Guntur.
YSR services recalled
Atmakuru: Rich tributes were paid to former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy at the YSR Smruti Vanam at Nallakalva near here on Saturday on his 8th death anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion, YSRCP Srisailam in-charge Budda Sesha Reddy said that Y S Jaganmohan Reddy upon winning 2019 general elections will provide the same kind of administration that YSR used to provide. He criticised the Chief Minister N Chandrababu for his failure to honour his promises.
YSR schemes benefitted a lot
Kurnool: District Congress Committee president Lakkasagaram Lakshmi Reddy recalled former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s services and welfare programmes introduced during his rule.
Addressing a programme held at Kala Venkat Rao Bhavan on 8th death anniversary of YS Rajasekhar Reddy, he said the welfare schemes not only benefitted the common man even lakhs of farmers also benefitted with YSR schemes. Recalling the schemes--
free power for irrigation sector, Rs 2 per kg, Aarogyasree, 108 and 104 ambulance services, 25 paisa loan to women groups, old age pensions, houses for poor (Indiramma houses), scholarships to students and fee reimbursement, he alleged that the Telugu Desam Party instead of mounting pressures on the Central government to accord Special Status to Andhra Pradesh, was satisfied with special packages as they benefitted him and his party leaders.
Recalling the victory of TDP at Nandyal byelections, he said the electorate are forced to cast their votes in favour of TDP with the pressure mounted on them or else TDP would have lost the election. However, the people of Nandyal are waiting for an opportunity to teach a fitting lesson in the ensuing 2019 elections, he stated. Prior to the meeting the party leaders garlanded the statue of YS Rajasekhar Reddy at the State Bank Circle.
Floral tributes paid
Tirupati: YSRCP students wing of SV University has paid rich tributes to former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy on his 8th death anniversary. Student’s wing Chittoor district president V Hariprasad Reddy garlanded the YSR replica and remembered his services as chief minister to empower the poor in the state.
He said YSR introduced fee reimbursement scheme for the poor students. In this programme, student wing leaders Sivananda Reddy, Sudheer Reddy, Hemanth, Kiriti, Muni Kumar and Sai Prasad were present.
