Heavy police force was deployed on Godavari bund and two big cranes were arranged at immersion points. They have been lifting Ganesh idols from the vehicles through cranes and keeping them on puntis and later, immersing the idols into the river.

As Sunday, being the last day of nine-day Vinayaka Chavithi festival, under the aegis of Ganesh Utsav Samithi, many pandal organisers have immersed Ganesh idols in Godavari river.

The organisers were seen bringing Ganesh idols on a procession, dancing to spiritual songs and distributing prasadams along the way. Sofar, as many as 300 Vinayaka idols were immersed.

Urban superintendent of police B Raja Kumari, Municipal Commissioner V Vijaya Rama Raju supervised the immersion programme.
