Hundreds of youngsters and parents celebrated the Happy Sunday organised by Vijayawada Municipal Corporation with the support of NGOs at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation.

Hundreds of youngsters and parents celebrated the Happy Sunday organised by Vijayawada Municipal Corporation with the support of NGOs at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation. Youth played sepak takra, base ball, hand ball, shuttle badminton and other games, and performed western and traditional dances as part of Happy Sunday celebrations.

Dance artistes and children exhibited their dancing skills and won applause from the audience, who gathered in large numbers in the morning. Volunteers of Rally for Rivers canvassed about the protection of environment on the occasion. Sandeep a youngster who is travelling 14,000 km in India to create a Guinness record also participated in the Happy Sunday.

VMC Fire Officer Sekhar, speaking on the occasion said Sandeep will go to Vizag and later to Hyderabad as part of his objective to create Guinness record and create awareness among the people on protection of environment and use of bicycle that is good for health and fitness. Fire officer from VMC is planning to conduct Happy Sunday on Patna Kaluva road also. Southern Travels conducted some cultural programmes.

At Rajamahendravaram

Various cultural programmes were conducted in connection with Happy Sunday at Pushkar Ghat here on Sunday morning. Students of City Municipal High School, Nannaya Municipal High School, performed dance and mimicry programmes.

B Srimannarayana of Chunnilal Jajoo Rotary municipal school, painted national flag on the faces and hands of the students. Later, currency expo of E Akshya, a sixth-class student of Bodha school also impressed the people. Municipal Corporation Commissioner V Vijaya Rama Raju took the initiating steps to make Happy Sunday programmes grand success.
