Anantapur: District Collector Veera Pandian has received petitions from public at the Collectorate premises here on Monday. As many as 505 petitions relating to land disputes, payment of compensation for farm lands acquired, new ration shop and crop insurance had been received.

The collector called upon officials concerned to dispose of all pending grievances within a fortnight.Of the 505 petitions, 90 pertained to farm input subsidy. Villagers of Kakkalapalle urged the Collector to lay roads in the village and sanction individual latrines and supply trees for greening the village.

Several people from Guntakal town urged the collector to take steps for representing their demand for upgrading Guntakal into a Railway Zone. Students from Guntakal also appealed to Collector to increase scholarship amount and mess charges for their education. Farmers complained that insurance premium was paid by them but crop insurance was not paid, according to a representation given by farmers Katamaiah and Mallikarjun.
