Tirupati: Tempers flared at S V University campus, when two groups of engineering students clashed in the playground.
On Monday morning at 11.30 am a B Tech (dual degree) third year student Nithin with alleged outsiders support attacked on two regular final year students Krishna and Bhanukumar at hostel premises. In this attack, the final year students sustained severe injuries. They were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

This led to tensions in the campus and Nithin took refuge in principal chamber. Meanwhile, more than 200 students went to principal office and demanded the staff to hand over Nithin, who attacked the final year students.

Principal’s attempt to convince final year students that action would be taken against on Nithin, went in vain.
Irate students broke the window panes at principal chamber. Varsity police entered the campus to control students clash and nabbed the more than 25 students and shifted them to University police station.

According to SVU Police Station CI Srinivaslu, a complaint was received from Principal of SVU engineering college Prof Padmanabham and we have booked cases against both student groups who were created law and order disturbance.

CI Intimated that police registered cases under sections 143,147,324, 353,448 and 341 of IPC.In the wake of clashes SVU authorities closed the engineering college indefinitely. Hostels were vacated by the students on Monday evening.

University registrar Prof Devarajula Naidu speaking to The Hans India said, “We have decided to close the hostels until situation comes under control. We will take disciplinary action on accused students.”
