Speaking to The Hans India here on Monday, Andhra Pradesh Aided Colleges Temporary/Part-time Lecturers Association (APACTPLA) state general secretary Dr PVB Sanjeeva Rao has said that the associations were gearing up for a massive dharna at Vijayawada on Tuesday, to mount pressure on government to fulfil their long-pending demands.

The un-aided teaching staff having an experience of 20 to 25 years, highly qualified are getting monthly remuneration in between Rs 3,000 to Rs 7,000 only, whereas the aided faculty with same qualifications and experience, same working hours getting a monthly salary of Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh also.

“Moreover, the government is paying a monthly remuneration of Rs 30,000 the temporary/part-time faculty working in government junior and degree colleges, which is glaring example for the step-motherly attitude of the government,” Rao noted.

The association is demanding the government to abolish GO 35, issued in 2006, which banned the recruitment of aided faculty besides regularising the services of un-aided faculty.

Dr PVB Sanjeeva Rao noted that Supreme Court and the High Court directed the state government to pay equal salary to equal work, but their directives were in vain.

“Un-aided non-teaching staff also facing same problems on par with un-aided faculty, he said. It is the duty of the government to take a right decision in this regard to light lamps in the lives of un-aided teaching staff,” he stated.
