Visakhaptanam: Vizag city is getting prepared for 10th edition of Vysakhi Nrithyotsav -2017, All India Dance Festival from September 15 - 17being organised by Nataraj Music Dance Academy. Teams from all over India would be taking part in this prestigious performing arts event, which has become a prestigious platform for both established and emerging artistes including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardees.
“To reflect the glory of Visakha, ‘Vysakhi Nrithyotsav’ was named after godess Vysakeshwari. The All India Classical dance festival emerged out of a noble ambition to protect, preserve and promote Indian Classical Dance forms,” said Festival Director and Natraj Dance Academy founder BR Vikram Kumar.
Apart from the dance festival, Natraj Music and Dance Academy in collaboration with Vignan University is organizing a national seminar-cum-workshop on Indian Classical Dances by experts on September 16 and 17 in the Visakhapatnam.
On the sidelines of this event, extremely talented Bharatnatyam exponent Guru Deepak Mazumdar would be conferred with Vysakhi Lifetime Achievement award and Vysakhi Excellence Award for dance promotion would be bestowed on Jagabandhu Jena, Festival Director of Devadasi Nrithyotsav in Odisha.
Besides the Naatyasri awards would be given to Joy Krishnan, Geetha Narayanan, Bhavana Lele, Debjani Chatterjee, Rina Jana, Tanmoy Pal, Kalamandalam Ramith and Patnam Sivaprasad.
The event would see the performances of Deepak Mazumdar from Mumbai, Kalalaya Dance Group from Kerala, Geeta Narayan from Visakhaptnam, Bhavana Lele & Group from Mumbai, Debjani Chatterjee & Group, Rina Jana & Group from Kolkata, Santhiniketan Agnik & Group from West Bengal, Kalamandalam Remith & Group from Kerala and Patnam Siva Prasad & Group from Anantapur.
