The journalists from Prakasam district condemned the brutal murder of senior journalist from Bengaluru Gowri Lankesh. The journalists from all over the district staged protests and took out rallies at their places condemning the killing of the noted journalist.

In Ongole, many journalists participated in the rally from the Collectorate to Ambedkar statue and demanded the Central government find the culprits and prosecute them.
IV Subba Rao, general secretary of APUWJ, said that it is a shameful incident occurred just before the international convention on safety of women journalists scheduled from September 8 to 10 at Khatmandu. He demanded that the State and Central governments establish a committee to protect the journalists from the attacks of anti-social elements.
Sowri Das, secretary of APJF Prakasam district unit, condemned the killing of Gowri and demanded that it is the responsibility of the governments to ensure a safe environment to the journalists working for the public. He said that the goons can kill a person who question them but they cannot destroy the spirit of questioning in others.
