According to victim K Bhanu Prakash, an employee at Priya Cements in Dhone, and his wife K Vasavi Latha boarded the train on Tuesday at Renigunta to reach Dhone. They were travelling in a reserved compartment no S-5.

The train was said to have halted at Malyala railway station for another train to cross the line. In the meantime, some unidentified persons came near the compartment and opened the window and snatched two chains of his wife.

All the passengers in the compartment were in deep sleep at the time of incident, he added. Following the unexpected incident, Vasavi Latha started to scream and the other passengers at once got alert and started to catch the burglars, said Bhanu Prakash. It was around 2.30 am and no one was seen on the platform as the station was not a big halt.

The miscreants took to heels and vanished in no time. He said the snatched jewellery are around 4 tolas, he said.
We have lodged a complaint with the Dhone Railway police after getting down there. Railway police have registered a case.
Dhone Railway police station Sub Inspector Subba Rao said that a man hunt launched to nab the culprits.
