Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation for Chintalapudi lift irrigation II phase works at Muddulaparva village of Krishna district as part of Jalasiriki Harati programme on Thursday.

The state government has been giving priority for irrigation projects to provide water to agricultural lands in all regions. It may be noted that the first phase of Chintalapudi lift irrigation scheme was taken up at a cost of Rs 1,701 crore and the Chief Minister will lay foundation for the second phase works costing Rs 3,208.8 crore to supply Godavari water to both West Godavari and Krishna districts to meet the drinking water and irrigation needs of upland areas.

The scheme would help to stabilise the ayacut off 2.10 lakh acres in 18 mandals of both the districts as farmers are suffering due to lack of water supply from Nagarjuna Sagar Left canal in III zone.

In the first phase the Godavari water will be lifted at Tadipudi village of WG district and supplied to Guddigudem village of Gopalapuram mandal through leading channel. From there, the water will be lifted by arranging 14 pumps to Chintalapudi lift irrigation main canal.
