Kakinada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Election Officer Bhanwar Lal on Wednesday called upon all electoral registration officers (EROs) to lay special focus on youth and service voters in the district.

Reviewing the voters list revision with all the EROs at the Collectorate here on Wednesday, the CEO said that the voters’ list has a special significance in the wake of 2019 assembly and parliament elections.

He instructed all the election officials to enrol all the youth who crossed 18 years and told them to lay special focus on enrolling those voters who work in Army, Navy, Airforce and para military forces. Bhanwar Lal said that intensive revision of voters’ lists gave good results in Kakinada and Rajahmundry Corporations and said that they will ask the permission of Election Commission of India to implement the same system in other parts of the district.

Collector Mishra said after a special drive conducted in July, the number of voters raised to 37,63,348 from 37,33,336. Mishra also explained that for every 1,000 men there are about 1,011 female voters in the district.

He said that they made all necessary requirements in 4,205 polling stations out of 4,266 in the district. He said the remaining 61 polling stations are in Agency and soon they will make all required arrangements. Joint Collector Radha Krishna, Rajahmundry Commissioner Vijaya Rama Raju, DRO M Jitendra and RDOs participated.
