The Minister participated in the state government sponsored Jala Siri Ki Harathi programme at Muddanur and B Kodur mandals in Jammalamadugu Assembly constituency on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering, he said that government is giving top priority for storage of the water to meet the needs of people. He said that groundwater levels were increased following desilting of 4,000 check dams in the district. He said that incessant rains might occur throughout the district from September 10 as tanks, check dams and other water sources would have sufficient water. He said that the Chief Minister has decided to give Rs 5 lakh compensation to poor under Chandranna
Bima scheme.

He stated that about 5,600 houses were constructed in Muddanur mandal under the NTR Housing scheme and another 600 houses would be sanctioned very soon. The Minister urged the people to construct individual latrines as government is sanctioning Rs 15,000 for the purpose.

Meanwhile, District Collector T Baburao Naidu has participated in the Jala Siri Ki Harathi programme at lower Sagileru at B Kodur mandal. Irrigation Superintending Engineer E A Gopala Reddy, Executive Engineer E Venkataramana and others were present.
