The Forum of BSNL Employees Unions and Associations for Prakasam district opposed the proposal of merging the Prakasam telecom district with the Guntur telecom district. The forum leaders condemned the motive of the Union government and said it would cause difficulties to many customers as they would be compeled to come to the Guntur from far places in the western area of Prakasam district.

The forum leaders condemned the motive of the Union government and said it would cause difficulties to many customers as they would be compeled to come to the Guntur from far places in the western area of Prakasam district.
Speaking to the media here on Thursday, V Venkaiah, convener and P Mallik Babu, Chairman of the Forum of BSNL Employees Unions and Associations said that it was very unfortunate to propose the merger of Prakasam telecom district into the Guntur telecom district.
The consultant for the BSNL, Deloitte also proposed the government to continue Prakasam as an individual unit. He said that Prakasam telecom district was better in all aspects when compared to the small districts like Kadapa, Chittoor, Nellore, East Godavari, Krishna and West Godavari.
The Ongole MP YV Subbareddy wrote a letter to the communications Minister Manoj Sinha on Thursday and requested him to continue the Prakasam telecom district intact. He said in the letter that the Prakasam telecom district was the largest in the coastal Andhra with 140 telephone exchanges, 279 cell towers and a large number of mobile phone customers.
