Rupees 3.6K cr released for phase-III loan waiver
State government has taken decision to release Rs 3,600 crore towards farm loan waiver under phase-III. The amount has already been deposited into PD account of Rythu Sadhikara Samstah and it would be transferred to farmers’ accounts from September 10.
Amaravati: State government has taken decision to release Rs 3,600 crore towards farm loan waiver under phase-III. The amount has already been deposited into PD account of Rythu Sadhikara Samstah and it would be transferred to farmers’ accounts from September 10.
The government is also taking steps to deposit Rs 5,28.37 crore to the farmers, who did not get loan waiver under phase I and II for various reasons. Though around nine lakh farmers made complaints to government over non-availability of loan waiver, the government considered only 5.47 lakh farmers as eligible for the scheme.
Minister for agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said that another 44,000 applications were under consideration and Rs 18.87 crore would be released to those beneficiaries, soon.
The minister informed that 10 per cent interest was also included in the amount Rs 3,600 crore under phase-III. Somireddy claimed that the Telugu Desam government has fulfilled its poll promise to farmers over loan waiver which was a big relief to lakhs of small and marginal farmers. “This proves that the government is committed to the welfare of farmers,” he said.
