Tirupati: Protests galore in Tirupati on Wednesday against the murder of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh. She was murdered by unidentified persons in Bengaluru on Tuesday night.

CPM, CPI and their frontal organisations as well as AP Working Journalists Federation (APWJF) organised protests and condemned the brutal murder of Gauri Lankesh. The Left parties and journalists jointly organised a protest in which the leaders termed the murder as a cowardly act by Hindu
extremists.

The slain journalist fought against those forces till her last breath. They raised slogans condemning the murder and also denounced RSS.

CPM State secretariat member V Krishnaiah, district secretary K Kumar Reddy and CPI district secretary G Rama Naidu demanded the Karnataka government to take stringent measures to control communal Hindutva forces.

Leaders including CPI city secretary C Penchalaiah, CPM district secretariat member V Nagaraj, SFI state leader S Jayachandra, AIDWA district secretary Sai Lakshmi, APWJF district president G Sridhar, Secretary M Nagaraj, A Sekhar, V Gopi and others also condemned the murder.

SFI students organised a protest in SVU campus in which they walked on their knees. Tirupati Press Club also organised a protest in which other journalists’ unions also joined.
