Visakhapatnam: Principal Secretary (Medical and Health Department) Poonam Malakondaiah directed the Development Committee of King George Hospital (KGH) to prepare a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) on the ongoing multi-storeyed complex.

Some of the public sector undertakings, including RINL, GAIL, VPT, ONGC, HPCL and others, have come forward to sanction their CSR funds to the tune of Rs 100 crore for the construction of the complex in a span of five years. However, two PSUs expressed their inability to provide assured funds to the project.

Reviewing the KGH development works here on Thursday, the Principal Secretary directed the development committee of the hospital to prepare a revised DPR to complete without any issues further.

She directed the official to complete the DPR and draft agreement by September 11. She also directed the officials to develop an exclusive website for the project and told them that they should keep updating the status of the project on the website.
District Collector Pravin Kumar gave details regarding the funds received from the PSUs and the status of the works.

During the meeting, superintendent of KGH Dr Arjun described the problems in the hospital, shortage of staff, repairs of internal roads, reconstruction of the entire drainage system and repairs of the cardiology wing.
