Suicide victim’s kin climbs cell tower seeking justice

Kurnool: A person climbed onto a cell tower at the Collectorate here on Thursday and threatened to commit suicide seeking justice to his relative, who had committed suicide recently. However, he relented when District Collector S Satyanarayana promised to constitute a committee to probe the suicide case.

It may be recalled that a school girl Pritibai, an SSC student of Kattamanchi Ramalinga Reddy Private School on the city outskirts, had committed suicide on August 19. Seeking justice to the girl, people’s organisations along with the family members of the slain girl had been protesting in front of the Collectorate, when the girl’s paternal uncle Ramachandra Naik climbed on to the cell tower.

The alleged grouse was that the police and the officials have not been serious about investigating the case and are distorting the facts. He demanded the authorities to take steps to bring to book the culprits, who drove the girl to commit suicide. He was carefully brought down by the police and fire brigade personnel. When he tried to obstruct the movement of the District Collector’s car, the Collector assured him to set up a committee to go into the case.
