Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao on Friday advised the 518 newly-appointed AEs of the department to get inspiration from the work of eminent engineers like Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and Dr K L Rao for bringing fame to the State. Rao was speaking after attending the inaugural function of the Muchhumarri Lift Irrigation scheme. He was accompanied by the new engineers.

Atmakur (Kurnool): Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao on Friday advised the 518 newly-appointed AEs of the department to get inspiration from the work of eminent engineers like Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and Dr K L Rao for bringing fame to the State. Rao was speaking after attending the inaugural function of the Muchhumarri Lift Irrigation scheme. He was accompanied by the new engineers.

During the interaction, the Minister advised the AEs to visit the irrigation projects in Rayalaseema during their service, which would continue till the year 2052. Rao explained to the AEs details of the ayacut under the Telugu Ganga, Handri-Neeva, KC Canal, Srisailam, Galeru-Nagari, Pothireddypadu, Veligonda and SRBC projects.

“You should drive away drought from Rayalaseema by working in Kurnool, Anantapur, Kadapa and Chittoor districts,” he exhorted. The Minister suggested to the AEs to study how the former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao had envisaged the irrigation projects in Rayalaseema. He said the Muchhumarri Lift Irrigation project has the specialty of taking water to the region even when the Srisailam reservoir level stood at 798 ft. Later, the engineers went around the town.
