Nellore: The Customs department organised a seminar on self-sealing procedures in exports here on Friday. Addressing the participants, Customs Commissioner Sudha Koka explained about procedural changes in exports after rollout of GST from July this year. Exporters from Nellore, Prakasam districts along with representatives from Krishnapatnam Port, Seabird CFS, GDL CFS and Nellore Chamber of Commerce have attended the seminar.
She explained that the new self-sealing procedures are more beneficial as it saves the time, double handling and thereby avoids wastage of money. She said the procedure comes into effect from Oct 1.
All GST registered exporters are eligible for using the self-sealing procedures and a onetime permission is required from the Commissioner of Customs, Vijayawada, she added. The permission is permanent and can be used for exports through all ports of India in future and the application is to be filed before the Export Facilitation Officer working at different locations of
entire Andhra Pradesh.
The officer will verify the suitability of the premises from where the exporter intends to export cargo and self-seal the container and have to submit their verification report within 48 hours from the receipt of the application from the exporter.
After receipt of the verification report, the Commissioner, Vijayawada will grant the self-sealing permission, Commissioner informed. Sudha said that exporters can log on to apcustoms.gov.in for more information. Joint Commissioner M Rama Mohana Rao, Deputy Commissioners D Sathish and Y Bhaskar Rao, Assistant Commissioner (GST) Ezhilarasan and representatives of private firms and professionals were present.
