The investigating officer, Sub Inspector, Khaza Vali of Veldurthy police station briefing The Hans India said that Sanjeev Reddy of YSR Congress Party and Gurunath Reddy of Telugu Desam Party quarrelled with each other over a petty issue related to the village long back. They lodged complaints and with the intervention of police the issues was suppressed, stated the officer.
Over a time the grudge between the leaders too grew with every passing day. On Friday night, both the leaders and their supporters had a face- to- face encounter over the same issue that was suppressed years ago. With this Sanjeeva Reddy and Raghunath Reddy physically clashed with each other and sustained injuries. Along with Sanjeeva Reddy and Raghunath Reddy two more persons were said to have been injured, said Khaza Vali.
“Both the parties approached us and lodged complaints making allegations on each other. We have received the complaints and filed cases under section 324 and took up investigation besides sending the injured for medical treatment at Kurnool Government Hospital. However, we have deployed a constable to avert untoward incident in the village in view of tense situations prevailing”, added Khaza Vali.
