Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, along with faculty, visited onboard the newly inducted Offshore Patrol Vessel built by Goa Shipyard Limited Indian Coast Guard Ship Shaurya on Saturday.

Visakhapatnam: Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, along with faculty, visited onboard the newly inducted Offshore Patrol Vessel built by Goa Shipyard Limited Indian Coast Guard Ship Shaurya on Saturday.

The visit included a walk around onboard the ship, along with display of arms and ship’s fire fighting capabilities. They were shown the state-of-the-art navigation and communication equipments, sensors and machineries.

During the visit, Coast Guard officers of ICGS Shaurya enlightened students on overview of Coast Guard ships, highlighting organisational structure, role, functions of the service, its motto and achievement.

The children showed keen interest in learning various aspects of navigation and seamanship. They also raised several queries on Coast Guard Ship and her role. Deputy Inspector General DS Chauhan, Commanding Officer of the ship, interacted with all visiting faculty and schoolchidlren.
