The former Union minister says the region would achieve development only through setting up industries

She participated as a chief guest at BJP activists meeting held at Kodmuru on Sunday.Later, addressing a press conference, Purandeswari said severe drought conditions were prevailing in Ralayaseema. It is very unfortunate to see only one industry coming up in Kurnool district.

There is need for industries to be set up in Rayalaseema to pave the way for development. The Central government had sanctioned Rs 50 crore each to seven backward districts in the State for a period of three years – a sum of Rs 1,050 crore, she pointed out. She said the Centre launched Krishi Sinchai Yojana to improve farm productivity.

She said the BJP government accorded national status to Polavaram project and is bearing the expenses for its completion. The project is expected to be completed by 2018.

The locals brought to the notice of Purandeswari the drinking water problems they were facing. Later the women from weavers’ community felicitated Purandeswari by presenting silk clothes.

Former MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, BJP leaders Harish Babu, Vijay Yadav, Mallesh and Ramesh Babu were present.
