Visakhapatnam: A stalwart of Hindustani music, internationally renowned Santoor instrumentalist Padma Vibhushan awardee Pandit Shivkumar Sharma received the KopparapuKavulu National Eminence Award 2017 at Kalabharathi Auditorium on Saturday.
The 15th anniversary of ‘KopparapuKavuluKalapeetam’ was celebrated in grand manner under the supervision of Machavaram Venkata ChenchuramaMaruthiSubbaraya Sharma, Founder Chairman of KopparapuKavulaKalapeetam and CEO of Tollywood Channel.
KopparapuSodaraKavulu were the legendary duo of sibling poets Kopparapu Venkata Subbaraya Kavi (November 12, 1885 – March 29, 1932) and KopparapuVenkataramana Kavi (December 30, 1887–March 21, 1942) who were well known for conducting Avadhanams.
The tribute ceremony of these famous poets presided over by DrGarikapatiNarasimharao progressed in an enthralling manner. The newly introduced, Avadhanaṃ award was presented to NaraalaRamareddy of Proddutur for his immense contribution in the field of Avadhanam.
