Visakhapatnam: After successfully conducting three editions of the World Ranking Snooker Championship - Indian Open, the fourth edition is all set to take off on September 12 in the city. The inaugural function will be held on September 11 here. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the event. After the formal inauguration, an exhibition match and some trick shots will be displayed.

The tourney schedule was released by Collector Pravin Kumar, President of Billiards and Snooker Federation of India PVK Mohan, Secretary General of Federation S Balasubrahmanyam and treasurer MC Utappa at a press conference here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Pravin Kumar and PVK Mohan said that the tournament matches will kick-start from September 12 at 9.30 am and will continue till September 16.

All matches up to the finals will be in the best-of-seven format, while the finals will be best-of-nine and the entire event will be played on four match tables, Mohan said.

In the fourth edition of the championship, the expectation from Cue Sports enthusiasts was high and it promises to live up to the billing. World-class facilities were being provided for the players and officials, Secretary General of the Federation Balasubrahmanyam said.

Vizag has this rare opportunity to host a global event of the scale and the scenic city was all set to welcome the players, officials and Cue Sports enthusiasts to participate and enjoy the five-day snooker bonanza, Collector Pravin Kumar said.
