Hyderabad: Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of Rayalaseema during the next 24 hours, the Met department bulletin warned on Sunday. The north- south trough from central Maharashtra to north interior Karnataka extending up to 0.9 km above the mean sea level is persisting.

The east- west shear zone also persists.The forecast said light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few places in the coastal districts and at a few/many places in Rayalaseema from September 11 to 14. No large change during the subsequent three days is the weather outlook.

According to the bulletin, during the last 24 hours the Southwest Monsoon was normal over Rayalaseema and weak over costal Andhra. Very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in Anantapur district of Rayalaseema. There was 12 cm of rain in Rolla, 11 cm in Agali, both in Anantapur district. While Madakasira in the district recorded six cm of rain, Hindupur and Lepakshi (both in Anantapur) received five and three cm respectively.

The chief amounts of rainfall in Rayalaseema region (in cm) were: Santhipuram (Chittoor) 6, Satyavedu (Chittoor) 4, Venkatagiri Kota (Chittoor) 3. There was one cm of rain each in Kadiri, Kuppam, Royachoti, Penukonda and Tirupati Airport.
