Eluru: In a heinous incident, a nine-year-old girl was raped by an unknown miscreant at Anumojupalem Road three km, from Iragavaram village of West Godavari district on Sunday late night. The girl’s mother gave a complaint to the Iragavaram police on wee hours of Monday .

According to police, an unknown miscreant who wore a helmet stopped the 9-year old girl while she was carrying Milk packets from nearby shop of her house and took her on the vehicle by saying her grandmother is at the school.

He took her to Anumojupalem road and raped her. He threatened her not to tell anybody. Later he dropped her at the school and fled away from the spot. Her grandmother and her mother were worried when the girl did not return even after one-hour.

Around 8.30 PM on Sunday, both started searching for the girl child. Meanwhile, they saw the girl walking towards their house crying. The girl narrated the incident to them. The grandmother and mother immediately took her to Tanuku Government hospital. As the bleeding didn’t stop, the girl went into unconscious stage and the doctors are attending on her.

The Iragavaram Police knowing about the incident immediately reached Tanuku and took the complaint from her mother. Now it has become a challenge to the police to identify the culprit who was wearing a hel met. The Narsapur DSP G Poornachandra Rao said that the parents should be careful while sending their children outside.

“We are searching for the unknown miscreant who raped the 9year old girl. Soon we will catch him and put behind the bars.” He stated. Iragavaram police registered a case. The girl’s parents were separated seven years back and the girl along with her mother is staying with her maternal grandmother, police added.
