Nellore: Though the district has been blessed with two ministers, lack of coordination, unity and harmony between the leaders in many constituencies has hit the party rank and file even though general elections are fast approaching. The situation is clearly evident in Nellore City, Nellore Rural, Atmakur, Sullurpet, Gudur and Venkatagiri constituencies.

In fact, the YSR Congress Party had grabbed Nellore city, Nellore rural, Atmakur and Sullurpet constituencies and Gudur legislator who was from the same party shifted his loyalties to ruling TDP subsequently. Senior leaders of the party opine that there should be special focus on the party keeping in view of the forthcoming elections.

“The ministers are not showing interest to sort out the differences among groups in the respective assembly segments. They were otherwise busy with state-level activity and visiting all parts of the state rather than focusing on their home constituencies which is painful. We also expected maximum efforts from them since they should do more for success of the party in the coming elections,” said a senior leader with The Hans India.

In case of Nellore City, rumours are doing rounds that there were no friendly relations between the segment in-charge M Sridhar Krishna Reddy from the Congress and the Mayor SK Abdul Aziz, who is from YSRC. There are allegations from TD leaders that Mayor was taking decisions on his own rather than consulting others. Nellore Rural constituency is not an exception for such lack of coordination among leaders of ruling TDP.

Further, Anam brothers have shifted their loyalties from Congress and former minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has been looking after Atmakur constituency and he is reportedly having differences with former in-charge of the segment G Kannababu which needs to be addressed, party leaders say.

The situation is very complex at Gudur where the party has three groups where there is hardly any coordination between the three groups for organising any events of the party.

In Sullurpet, MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy was active and has been suspended from the party owing to a CBI case booked against him. Consequently, members of his group were not showing much interest to take up party activities. TD in-charge for the segment Parasa Venkata Rathnaiah was reportedly not getting adequate support from the cadre.

The differences between the Municipal Chairperson Donthu Sarada and Venkatagiri legislator Kurugondla Ramakrishna have not been addressed till now.

“Improving harmony among party leaders in the district is need of the hour. But, it is not being considered till now. We expect rapid steps from the ministers and others,” said a senior leader from Atmakur constituency.
