The state government has decided to set up Rythu Bazars in all the Assembly segment headquarters across the state. At present, there are 95 Rythu Bazars across the state and another 80 new Rythu Bazars are proposed. In this connection, the government has approved the proposals for establishment of seven new Rythu Bazars in Srikakulam district.

In this connection, the government has approved the proposals for establishment of seven new Rythu Bazars in Srikakulam district.

Presently, two Rythu Bazars, one at Srikakulam district headquarters and another at Amudalavalasa segment headquarters are there. Works relating to setting up of two more Rythu Bazars are underway at Tekkali and Kotabommali mandal centres which fall under Tekkali segment.

For Tekkali and Kotabommali Rythu Bazars, Rs 60 and Rs 50 lakh funds have already been sanctioned for each recently and officials started exercise. In addition to it, the state government allocated Rs 4.20 crore funds for the seven new Rythu Bazars in the district.

Revenue officials in Itchapuram, Palasa, Narasannapeta, Pathapatnam, Etcherla, Rajam and Palakonda segments headquarters received orders from the marketing department officials for identification of suitable sites. Minimum area of land required for each Rythu Bazar is 50 cents and maximum is one acre.

Basing on the extent of land, the government is planning to invest Rs 40 to Rs 60 lakh on each Rythu Bazar. Revenue officials are directed to locate the government and other government departments lands like endowments, municipality etc.

In this backdrop, horticulture department officials started exercise of identification of farmers for each Rythu Bazar to
supply vegetables and the farmers will be allotted shops.

“We are identifying vegetable farmers in each Assembly segment for supply of vegetables and will allot shops after issuing identity cards and the farmers will also be provided financial aid for vegetable cultivation’ assistant director (AD) for horticulture department,” MA Raheem told the The Hans India, here on Sunday.

“We communicated the government orders to all the revenue department officials concerned for identification of government lands in all the Assembly segments,” the assistant director in marketing department YV Shyam Kumar confirmed while speaking to The Hans India here on Sunday.
