The 36th death anniversary of great scholar, epigraphist, multi-talented personality Sadhu Subrahmanya Sastry was observed by TTD on Sunday.
Tirupati: The 36th death anniversary of great scholar, epigraphist, multi-talented personality Sadhu Subrahmanya Sastry was observed by TTD on Sunday.
Garlanding the life size statue of Sastry located opposite SVETA building in Tirupati, the HDPP secretary Ramakrishna Reddy said the life of Sastry itself is an encyclopaedia for the research students. “He is not only a scholar but dedicated his entire life in the service of Lord Venkateswara by bringing to light the rare manuscripts and inscriptions on the walls of Tirumala temple in the form of books through extensive research,” he observed.
While SVETA OSD Chenchulakshmi said Sastry rendered services in Tirumala temple as Peishkar and brought to the fore the information embedded in 1167 copper plates and also some thousands of Annamacharya sankeertans to limelight. Later the TTD officials felicitated Sastry's grand daughter Girija Sastry on the occasion.
