Residents of Atmakur, Kothapalli, Velugodu and Bandi Atmakur mandals have attended the camp. Addressing the tribals, the IG stressed that they would develop only by education after giving up vices. ‘This task should be taken up by everyone,’ he said. The IG promised more social interventions by the department in future.

Iqbal advised the Chenchus to act with responsibility to make their children useful citizens. He expressed concern over their health condition, with ailments like TB, anaemia, infertility and lack of nutritious food. ‘If this trend is not checked there is a danger of the tribe vanishing,’ the IG averred.

At the camp, the doctors of Shantirama Medical College, Nandyal, provided treatment with medicines for six ailments. Among those present at the camp were Atmakur DSP Supraja, Nandyal OSD Ravi Prakash, MRO Rajasekhar Babu and ITDA APO Bhaskar.
