Vijayawada: Dispute between the parents and a school management over beating of a Class III student by the school teacher ended on Tuesday following the written assurance given by the school management that the student in the school will not be harassed.

Dispute arose between the parents and the management of Vikas English Medium School at Prasadampadu after the Class III student Yashwant was severely beaten up by the class teacher on September 9.

Row between parents, school ends with assurance given by management that students will not be bashed up

The issue came to light late after parent Chagantipati Srirama Murthy lodged a complaint with Patamata police about the incident. He alleged the teacher had beaten up his son for not doing home work.

Srirama Murthy said that his son did not go to school two weeks due to fever and could not do the home work properly. He took strong objection to the bashing of child. He went to the school on September 11 and asked the school teacher and principal whey they had bashed up the kid.

He alleged that they had replied in a rude manner and sent back to his elder son Bhanu Prakash to home, who was studying Class V in the same school. Consequently, the parent went to the Patamata police station and lodged the complaint against the school management for sending back his elder son. The issue came to the notice of HRD minister Ghanta Srinivasa Rao, who reportedly expressed displeasure over the incident, and asked the district education department officials to probe into the incident.

Following the incident, the school management on Tuesday gave a written assurance that the two children Yashwant and Bhanu Prakash will not be harassed and asked Srirama Murthy to send the children to school.

He told The Hans India that he would send the two children to the school after two days. He further said that he had withdrawn the complaint lodged in Patamata police station with the assurance given by the school management. He expressed anguish that sending back the elder son was incorrect and questioned who will give admission in the middle of the year. Local panchayat elders and TDP leaders intervened and settled the dispute.
