The vehicular traffic on the busy Station Road in Powerpeta area in Eluru city has been suspended following the repairs to the Level Crossing at Powerpet Railway Station.

Eluru, which was upgraded as city from tiny town now is facing severe trouble with the closure of gate until Friday evening.
The Railway Station Road is choked with vehicular traffic and it takes more time to move towards II Town area from I Town. In normal days, due to railway gate, people are facing troubles while crossing the track
The gate almost closed for every 10 minutes for free movement of train traffic. The officials have decided to take up emergency repairs to track and announced closure of gate for four days from Tuesday morning. With the closure of this gate, the vehicular traffic has been diverted through under-bridge at Venkatrama Power Press Road in Powerpeta area.
Some traffic has been diverted towards Jute Mill overbridge and old-bus stand railway over bridge. Even the gate was closed, the pedestrians used to cross the gate by bending under the gate and crossing track despite the railway warnings. SCR Senior Section Engineer YV Rao said the gate will be reopened on September 15 after completing the track repairs.
