Guntur: Andhra Pradesh Transport Department has conducted a workshop on road safety at Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology, said the College Chairman Vasireddy Vidya Sagar.

Keeping in view of large number of accidents in the State, Joint Transport Commissioner SAV Prasad Rao has initiated safety audit on National Highways. The department has completed the audit of 311 km of NH-16 in Vizag, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. Audit is in progress in Krishna, East and West Godavari districts.

To start the safety audit in Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts, the workshop was conducted. The workshop focused its attention on standard safety audit procedures and methods of data collection DTC Guntur Raj Ratnam and DTC Nellore Siva Ram Prasad addressed the workshop. The officials appreciated the efforts of college management for maintaining conducive environment during the programme.

Motor vehicle inspectors, police officers, R&B engineers, NHAI engineers and consultants of the three districts, members of State Road Safety Council, students and professors participated in the workshop.
