Amaravati: AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) seems to have lost hopes over joint assets in Hyderabad with the rigid stand of its counterpart TSRTC. APSRTC has also reportedly given some clarity from Union government about the
final decision on assets which was said to be favourable to Telangana.

The second round of discussions between APSRTC and TSRTC in presence of Union government representatives over assets sharing, which will be held at APSRTC house, here on Friday will seal the fate of joint assets.

Highlights:

  • Union government’s directive on division of headquarters in favour of Telangana
  • Second round meeting on division of assets of RTC today
  • Bus Bhavan to be divided in 52:48 ratio

Sources in APSRTC said that the TSRTC claims absolute control over joint assets in Hyderabad with exception of Bus Bhavan. Even the Union government has the same view and advised both the states to share the Bus Bhavan on 52:48 formula.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had given clarity ae months ago stating “headquarters” of institutions included in schedule IX can only be bifurcated but not other offices of any institution located in Hyderabad as per demand of Andhra Pradesh government.

“There is no use in continuing fight with TSRTC and demanding division of 14 assets in Hyderabad as the situation favours Telangana government,” said a senior official.

The first round of discussions on August 24 came to a standstill as both parties failed to come to an understanding over division of 14 joint assets. Though a committee that was jointly constituted by APSRTC and TSRTC had identified three assets, including Bus Bhavan, Tarnka hospital and Miyapur bus body building workshop, in the past, the Telangana representatives rejected to comply the decision.

As the TSRTC MD G V Ramana Rao sought 15 days to respond to give a notice over their proposal on division of assets, the meeting decided for another meeting on September 15.

“We have to discuss with our State government and study over the issue of division of assets. So we deferred the issue temporarily”, Rama Rao told the board meeting on August 24.
