Adoni Taluka police station, Circle Inspector, T Daiva Prasad speaking to this correspondent said that Eediga Nagappa, the accused, was married to the deceased Susheela (30), of Dasapuram village in Bellary district, 13 years ago. After a long gap of 10 years of marital life, they had their first child. Immediately they had another child Jaya Sree (1). Nagappa was happy with the first child Ashwini, but not with the second child, the Inspector said.
He got up early in the morning on Thursday and in a fit of rage axed his wife to death and later he chocked the second daughter to death. He let his first daughter alive in the opinion that she was born to him. Later, Nagappa went to the outskirts of the village and hanged himself on a tree. The news was however brought to the notice of the police. ‘We rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to Adoni Area Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered and we took up the investigation’, stated the Circle Inspector, Daiva Prasad.
In yet another incident at Kodumur a housewife lost her life at the hands of her husband. The deceased was identified as Shaheena Begum. According to available sources, Jilani Basha of Kodumuru was married to one Shaheena Begum of Atmakur, two years ago. The accused had married Shaheen against the will of his parents, it is said.
The marital life of Jilani Basha was happily leading for a period of one year. After a year the couple had a daughter and from them, problems use to pour-in into the life of the deceased. Jilani used to suspect the character of his wife with which he used to pick up frequent quarrels, said the source.
With an ill intention, Jilani on the pretext of going to Kurnool asked his wife to come with him. On the way to Kurnool, he took a diversion towards Gajula Dinne Project (GDP) canal and after halting his vehicle asked his wife to get down. He pressed her on the ground and suffocated her with his leg on her throat. After confirming that she was dead, Basha along with his nine- month-old daughter straight away went and surrendered to the Kodumuru police.
