Government planning horticulture hub in Palnadu
District Collector Kona Sasidhar directed the officials to strive to turn Palnadu region in the district into horticulture hub to increase income of farmers. He conducted a meeting with the officials of the horticulture and micro irrigation department at the Collectorate here on Saturday.
Guntur: District Collector Kona Sasidhar directed the officials to strive to turn Palnadu region in the district into horticulture hub to increase income of farmers. He conducted a meeting with the officials of the horticulture and micro irrigation department at the Collectorate here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, he instructed the officials to motivate the farmers to switch over to horticulture from agriculture to increase their income and advised them to explain how horticulture is better than agriculture to the farmers.
He stressed the need to give importance to drip and sprinklers in Gurazala, Veldurti and Vinukonda in Palnadu region of Guntur district.
He directed the officials to conduct training classes to the farmers to use drip and sprinklers. He said the aim of the government is to set up horticulture hub in 10,000 thousand hectares in the district.
