Collector PS Pradyumna has asked the staff working in Anganwadis to make efforts to convert all 4,750 centres as pre-schools. Addressing the Anganwadi workers in the sensitisation and motivational programme held at Indira Priyadarsini Auditorium in Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswavidyalayam (SPMVV) on Sunday, the Collector said the life of future citizens of India lies in Anganwadis.

Tirupati: Collector PS Pradyumna has asked the staff working in Anganwadis to make efforts to convert all 4,750 centres as pre-schools. Addressing the Anganwadi workers in the sensitisation and motivational programme held at Indira Priyadarsini Auditorium in Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswavidyalayam (SPMVV) on Sunday, the Collector said the life of future citizens of India lies in Anganwadis.

The Collector recalled the recent programme in which drinking water and electricity facilities were provided in all Anganwadi centres in the district. He asked the workers to take steps to prevent the maternal deaths especially in rural areas. He advised them to learn new technological methods. It is the duty of workers to provide good food and health to the children at Anganwadis. Providing TVs in all Anganwadi centres is under consideration.

Every pregnant woman should have above 50 kg weight. If anyone is below that weight the workers should provide good nutritious food. He asked them to submit reports relating to how many children were born with below 2.5 kg weight and details of maternal mortality rates within one week.

Collector also asked the Anganwadi workers to provide folic acid tablets and iron tablets to women with low blood levels. World Bank consultant Ramesh Babu, SPMVV Dean of Social Sciences Prof DB Krishna Kumari, ICDS PD Sri Lakshmi, CPDOs, supervisors and workers of Anganwadis in the district have participated.
