The Indian Coast Guard personnel under the aegis of Coast Guard Commander (Eastern Seaboard) organised a beach clean-up drive at Rushikonda Beach on Saturday to commemorate 32ndInternational Coastal Clean-up Day as part of the United Nations Environment Programme and ‘Swachhata hi Sewa’ mission.

Visakhapatnam: The Indian Coast Guard personnel under the aegis of Coast Guard Commander (Eastern Seaboard) organised a beach clean-up drive at Rushikonda Beach on Saturday to commemorate 32ndInternational Coastal Clean-up Day as part of the United Nations Environment Programme and ‘Swachhata hi Sewa’ mission.

Nearly, 1,000 people comprising Coast Guard personnel, including families, CISF personnel, Coastal Security Police, NCC Cadets, students from GITAM University, Andhra University and children from various schools, actively participated in the event. The event was conducted in coordination with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Yeoman Marine Services, star hotels, Coastal Charitable Foundation Society and Positive Controls.

Additional Director General KC Pande, Commander Coast Guard (Eastern Seaboard) was present on the occasion and encouraged the participants in the clean-up drive. Speaking on the occasion, Inspector General AP Badola, Chief of Staff, Coast Guard emphasised the need for clean coasts, clean seas and clean environment for a clean nation, in lines with the Swachh Bharat and ‘Swachhata hi Sewa’ drives.
