Temple staff and devotees went to Denkada mandal and performed pujas and other rituals before cutting the tree. It may be noted that ‘Sirimanu’ will play a key role in Pydithallamma Jathara which is slated for October 3.

As per the belief of locals, the deity appears in the dream of the chief priest of the temple and tells him to find out the tree in a particular area and cut it and make it as ‘Sirimanu’. As per Goddess advice priests and temple authorities visited Reddikapeta village in Denkada mandal and went into the farm land of one Bangaraiah and Pentaiah Reddy.

MLA of Vizianagaram M Geetha and others performed pujas to the tamarind trees. Later, the trunk was brought to Humumpeta area of Vizianagaram town to carve it as Sirimanu.

Assistant commissioner of endowments Bhanuraja and other endowments staff of Pydithalli temple said: ‘As per Goddess instructions, we have found the tree here.”. This year Bantupalli Venkata Rao will mount the Sirimanu and will bless the people on behalf of Goddess. MLA P Narayanaswami Naidu, MLC K Veerabhadra Swamy and others participated in the programme.
