Row over drain: Officials inspect spot
Following the item published in The Hans India on the row between the residents of the sixth and seventh wards, officials, led by Municipal Chairman Karanam Chinna Rao, Commissioner M Rammohan, Deputy Engineer Prabhakar and Sanitary Inspector Deenakumari, inspected the spot on Sunday.

The row arose after the seventh ward residents obstructed the drain flow entering the ward. Following this, people of the sixth ward blocked the road leading to the seventh ward.
Tension prevailed when residents of the two wards indulged in a verbal spat during the day. Sub-Inspector Shobhan Kumar intervened and advised the residents to remove the road blockade. After the inspection, Chinna Rao assured to remove silt from the major drain silt in two days and to construct a ‘pucca’ drain with SC&ST sub-plan funds.
Residents of both wards took the issue to the notice of MLA SVSN Varma. Led by Councilor B Dwaraka, they met the legislator during the ‘Intitiki TDP programme’ in Chebrolu. Varma directed the Commissioner to take up construction of the drain with SC &ST sub-plan funds. Councilors B Dwaraka, B Swarnalatha, leaders B Ramakrishna, B Deva were present.
