Visakhapatnam: The Paderu Tribal Residential Junior College girls are suffering from viral fevers for the last three days due to climate change and other reasons at Paderu. Eventhough it is the mandal headquarters, students are being neglected by the officials, their parents alleged.

So far, no medical camp has beenconducted. Interestingly the college is located close to Additional DMHO office and local area hospital.

“I did not know that huge number of children are suffering from fevers for the last three days,” said Tribal Welfare Deputy Director GVijaykumar.

According to college authorities, 424 girls are studying intermediate in this residential junior college. Only one ANM was appointed for their medical assistance and first aid treatment.Initially two students contacted fever and later one by one fell sick. In all 18 students are suffering from fever, according to latest information.

The students said, the college ANM treated them with regular paracetamol tablets but students have not recovered from the fever.

“I was allotted to the sick room, but no proper medicine is available here. I wanted to go to hospital but unable to stand due to illness,” said Sakunthala (name changed) who has contacted fever recently.

“We are providing medicine and closely observing them. Special diet which includes bread and milk was also provided. We will ask the medical officials to conduct a camp in the college,” said TLN Naidu, Principal of JuniorCollege.
