Talking to press at his office here on Monday, he said the government is going to launch a new scheme ‘Chandranna Chenchu Mother and Child Protection Scheme’ for the welfare of the tribes soon.

Murali said they had opened ‘Birth Waiting Homes’ in Velugodu, Atmakur, Dornakal, Nagarjuna Sagar and Sunnipenta with all medical facilities. He said the government had also launched ‘Mother Child Hospitals’ to prevent maternal deaths.

Through the scheme, apart from Central government’s assistance Rs 1,300, an additional Rs 1,000 will be added in the mothers account. Rs 250 will haner 8985438004.

The PO said the machinery is taking all necessary steps to protect the pregnant tribal women. Murali said they are striving to bring the beneficiaries under the scheme. He said they had already identified four villages so far and providing training to the tribal women to empower them so that they can earn money.

The ITDA official stated the government has decided to distribute sewing machines at free of cost, to those who have undergone training in tailoring. The cloth material will be given to them in subsidy and final product will be purchased from them. He said they submitted proposals to purchase 24 vehicles for Chenchu areas, which doesn’t have road connectivity.
