Vijayawada: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said on Tuesday that the TDP government paid Rs 13,960 crore to the farmers as part of the loan waiver scheme in the State during the last three years and Andhra Pradesh Farmers Empowerment Corporation (APFEC) would address the grievances of the farmers to resolve issues pertaining to the loan waiver.

Chandramohan Reddy interacted with the farmers of Gannavaram on Tuesday and assured the latter that the State government is committed to the loan waiver and would release another 57,000 cards to the eligible farmers for loan waiver very soon.

He pointed out that in the first year, the government paid Rs 7,564.69 crore related to 54.98 lakh farmers’ accounts and paid another Rs 384.47 crore for the 2.23 lakh accounts of horticulture farmers. He informed that the government paid Rs 3,002 crore to the accounts of 36.69 lakh farmers in the second year and paid Rs 3,009 crore in the third year related to 36.72 lakh accounts of farmers.

He said the government paid interest of Rs 300 crore and Rs 600 crore respectively in the second and third years as part of the loan waiver scheme in the State. He said the Andhra Pradesh farmers Empowerment Corporation (APFEC) would resolve the problems being faced by the farmers on loan waiver and asked the farmers to take the assistance of the Corporation.

He said the Corporation resolved 2000 cases related to Andhra Bank in Guntur district and also gave examples of some other cases. He said some farmers were submitting voter ID cards instead of ration cards to claim loan waiver and suggested that the farmers follow the rules properly to avoid problems.

APFEC officers on special duty (OSDs) V Srirama Murthy, P Nagarjuna, G Surendra Babu, P Krishna Rao, M Sarma and others participated in the meeting with the farmers.
