A meeting was organised at the Makineni Basavapurnaiah Vignana Kendram (MBVK) Bhavan by the Displaced People’s Association on Tuesday to discuss the problems being faced by the oustees who were forcibly removed from their homes. Speaking on the occasion, CPM state secretary P Madhu alleged that the government was suppressing the voices of the displaced families who are asking for justice.

He said there is no specific mechanism or department to resolve the problems of the oustees of various irrigation projects like Totapalli, Polavaram and Vamsadhara. He demanded that the government should start the project works after resolving the problems of displaced families and pay adequate compensation.

He demanded that the government enhance the housing package to Rs.5 lakh and RR package should be applied to the married women also. He regretted that displaced families of Polavaram, Pulichintala, Vamsadhara and other projects in the state are eagerly waiting for justice.
