Sri Bhramaramba Devi Dasara Mahotsavalu began here on Thursday on a colourful note. The temple priests who entered the mandapam at around 8 am organised ‘Sivasankalpam’, ‘Ganapathi pooja’, ‘Punyahavachanam’, ‘Deeksha Sankalpam’, ‘Kankana pooja’, ‘Akhanda stapana’, ‘Vastu pooja’, ‘Mandaparadhana’, ‘Chandikalasha sthapana’, and Ruthvigwarana rituals.

Srisailam: Sri Bhramaramba Devi Dasara Mahotsavalu began here on Thursday on a colourful note. The temple priests who entered the mandapam at around 8 am organised ‘Sivasankalpam’, ‘Ganapathi pooja’, ‘Punyahavachanam’, ‘Deeksha Sankalpam’, ‘Kankana pooja’, ‘Akhanda stapana’, ‘Vastu pooja’, ‘Mandaparadhana’, ‘Chandikalasha sthapana’, and Ruthvigwarana rituals.

In the evening as part of the Navadurga Alankaram, the deity was decorated in Shailaputri Swarupam. It is said if Bhramaramba Devi is worshipped in this form, devotees will achieve success in all their endeavours. During the Dasara celebrations, the temple officials are to decorate the deity in Navadurga ‘avataram’, besides offering special ‘Navavarana pooja’.

They will also hold ‘Vahanasevalu’ to the deity, besides conducting ‘Chandi yagam’ and ‘Rudra yagam’. During the evenings, rituals like ‘Ankurarpanam’, ‘Agnipratishtapana’, ‘Ammavari Navaavaranarchana,’ will be followed by ‘Rudra Homam’ and ‘Chandi Homam’. The temple officials stated that celebrations were being organised with a view to ensuring wellbeing of everyone, besides progress and peace of the country and to avert untimely deaths in calamities.
Kurnool:

At Mahanandi and other parts of the district, Gramotsavam was celebrated on a grand scale. Goddess Durga idols were installed at various pandals on the streets. About 15 years ago, industrialist and Rajya Sabha Member TG Venkatesh first promoted the practice of installing Durga idols at street corners. Taking a cue from the practice, Durga pandals have been set up in all streets of the city.
