British team pays visit to Visakhapatnam Port Trust

The British Deputy High Commissioner, Andrew Fleming, along with the Political Economy Adviser, British High Commission, Nalini Raghuraman, visited Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) on Thursday.

Visakhapatnam: The British Deputy High Commissioner, Andrew Fleming, along with the Political Economy Adviser, British High Commission, Nalini Raghuraman, visited Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) on Thursday.

The Deputy Chairman of VPT, PL Haranadh, explained the port facilities, cargo profile, handling of iron ore, coal, POL products and other various cargoes and the export and import business with the United Kingdom. The Deputy Chairman also explained about the seamless connectivity, online e-Payment, 10 MW solar power being used for port operations, sewage treatment plant for industrial usage, CCTV surveillance and 24/7 navigational facilities in the harbour.

The Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of VPT, VVS Sreenivas, explained the vigilance activities carried out in the port.
Later, the UK team visited harbour and inspected the infrastructure. Speaking on the occasion, Andrew Fleming said that their visit to the port foster strong ties between the UK and India as well as strengthen the business ties between both the countries at large and Visakhapatnam Port in particular.
