Railways give nod for Shyamalanagar RUB

Guntur: The Shyamalanagar flyover bridge in the city will a get Road Under Bridge to ensure the smooth flow of traffic. Responding to the request of the Roads and Buildings Department and Guntur Municipal Corporation, the Railway officials agreed to give permission for the construction of the RUB at Shyamalanagar railway level crossing.

While, the Railways will construct RUB under the railway track, the Roads and Buildings department will lay approach roads on both sides of the RUB.

At present every day over 50 trains including good trains pass through the Shyamalanagar railway level crossings. Sometimes, two trains will pass at the same time. It takes more than four or five minutes for the trains to pass and it wastes a lot of time of the motorists to clear the stranded traffic.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Thursday, D Srinivas, a resident of Pattabhipuram said, “There is an urgent need to construct RUB or ROB for the smooth flow of the traffic. The GMC should have done it long back."

When contacted, GMC Superintendent Engineer D.Mariyanna said, “We held a meeting with the Railway officials and they agreed to give their approval for the construction of the RUB. We will shift drinking water and drainage pipelines for the construction of RUB.

Later, the Railways Department will take up construction work under the RUB. The R&B will construct 4.5 meters height and 4.5 meters length box under the railway track for the smooth flow of the traffic. We have submitted the DPR to the Railways."
