Amaravati: With just one-and-half years left for general elections, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu seems to be diverting his focus completely on welfare programmes.

The Chief Minister repeatedly and clearly told the Collectors and other senior IAS officials to ensure strict implementation of welfare schemes on the second day of the Collectors conference.

He said the State government will put most of its focus on welfare schemes from October 1 and wanted officials to plan short-term targets for achieving immediate results and to increase satisfaction level to 95%.
The Chief Minister said, “We could draw immediate satisfaction from public through providing financial support by implementing welfare schemes. From now onwards, the focus should be on welfare schemes. We should implement welfare programmes perfectly without giving any chance for corruption.”

Explaining measures that have to be taken to ensure improved public satisfaction, the Chief Minister said that all problems relating to ration shops must be sorted out immediately.

Pensions and scholarships should be distributed on the first day of every month. He also directed officials to take steps to prepare certain mechanisam to pay electricity bills of SCs and STs as part of the scheme which was planned to supply 75 units of free electricity to their houses.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to implement other welfare schemes such as Mundadugu and Chaitanyam for SCs and STs, Adarana for BCs, Roshni for Minorities and Cheyutha for handicapped. He also said the SC, ST and BC sub-plans should be implemented most effectively. He also mentioned Kapu, Brahmin corporations.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to prepare plans exclusive for women self-help groups to enable them to earn at least Rs 10,000 per month.
“DWACRA groups are a big asset to us. A resource person would be appointed for every 25-35 groups,” he said.

Financial help to brides of poor families under welfare schemes must be provided on the occasion of marriage itself and must handover cheques on the day of the ceremony.

“I will conduct surveys every month to know the satisfaction level among the public. I will not allow small mistake too in implementing welfare schemes,” Naidu said. The CM also directed officials to complete at least 10 lakh houses by Sankranthi at any cost and conduct massive house warming ceremonies as a festival. “Local people’s representatives or leaders must be invited for the house warming occasions,” he said.
